Abstract

Micro-Siting wind turbines are always prudent considered during project development, detailed design, and construction of wind farms. The turbine's location in projects significantly affects the project finance, land occupied, and environmental impacts. This paper proposes applying wind farm layout optimization based on a wind resource grid, which includes wind characteristics, topographic data, and roughness, using some powerful optimization algorithms published recently. The main objective of this paper is to maximize the annual energy production of the wind farm with a carefully calculated wake-effect. The best optimal layouts, uniformly calculated by WAsP software, show that the method proposed in this paper gives the optimal results competitive with windPRO software. The feasibility of applying the research results to the optimal design of the wind farm is practical.
