Wind energy technology transfer

Abstract

Concurrently with an increasing interest in wind energy, the interest in manufacturing wind turbines locally increases as well. Therefore more and more joint venture companies will also be established during the coming years and it is expected that large industrial groups will be interested in manufacturing and installing large wind power plants worldwide in near future. Not only the above facts will lead to more and more demands for local manufacture of wind turbines and wind turbine components. But also the utilities will demand more co-production as they buy the produced windpower, and they are also very often the owner or co-owners of the wind power plants. Furthermore, the installation of a wind power plant is very often in the beginning supported by public subsidies in order to promote wind energy especially on new markets, in this case there is a political reason for demanding local production.
