Abstract

AbstractThis short note is based on observations of wind and sea disturbance made by the Master of the M.V. Peterborough Trader (102 tons), taken during the months of December, 1939, and January, 1940. The term “sea disturbance” and method of observation is an defined in an earlier paper. A comparison is made between winds blowing off‐shore from the Lincolnshire coast and winds blowing up‐channel from seaward. The effect of fetch and width of channel in the estuary of the River Nene is shown by data for southerly winds.
