Abstract

The free energies of fundamental and adjoint spinor fields propagating on spaces of the form $T\ensuremath{\bigotimes}{R}^{d}\ensuremath{\bigotimes}\frac{{S}^{3}}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}$ are evaluated for the purpose of investigating the Wilson-loop mechanism. Changes in the gauge symmetry of some model universes are determined as the temperature falls and "congruency class" effects are discussed. Some combined vector/spinor systems are also examined.
