Abstract
We attempt to apply the Wilson-line-breaking mechanism to Kaluza-Klein cosmology. Vacuum stability is considered in a simple SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills theory defined on space-time {ital M}{sup 4}{times}{ital S}{sup 1}. It is shown that static vacuum solutions with stable compactification exist.
