Abstract

Historical background is given for the development of the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, Dublin, and The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne. The similarity of names was fortuitous, but both have strong Influences derived from William R. Wilde and his St Mark's Ophthalmic Hospital In Dublin.
