Abstract

Over the past few years, William Kentridge's work on paper, animated film, and in the theater has been exhibited or produced at many of the major centers of art around the world. In 1998 his work Ubu and the Truth Commission was performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., among other venues, and his new production of Claudio Monteverdi's Il Ritorno d'Ulisse was performed in Brussels and Zurich in September 1998. In spring 1999, Kentridge had a solo exhibition of his work at the Serpentine Gallery in London, and his new film Stereoscope, on the Johannesburg property developer Soho Eckstein, was screened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
