Abstract

The use of wild mushrooms as a food source varies in different parts of the world. There are fundamental differences for example between Great Britain and Finland and some mushrooms that are eaten in Finland are regarded as inedible, or even poisonous, in Britain. Many people in Britain collect a limited range of edible species but relatively few are experts in identification whereas many Finns have learned these skills. There is also more interest in research on mushroom yields in Finland.
