Abstract
The Wigner-Kirkwood expansion for matrix-valued potentials is derived by first discussing the scalar problem within a framework that directly admits a matrix generalization. Attention is confined to the space-diagonal problem for which explicit calculations are presented up to fourth order in derivatives of the potential.
