Abstract

Relations between the interaction range effective range and scattering length for s-and p-waves are derived by using Wigner's inequalities for the momentum derivative of the scattering phase shift. Applications to π—N and n—p scattering are given. In particular it is shown that the obtained value ( R ≧ 0.68 / ̵ μc ) for lower limit of the interaction range for s-wave ( T = 3 2 ) in π—N scattering might support the existence of π—π interaction.
