Abstract

The situation of private investors in Germany is widely unexplored. In line with that fact, the paper analyses on the basis of the results of a qualitative sociological research project three essential dimensions of their investment practice. In a first step, we focus on the experienced investment advisory from the point of view of the advised, to analyse then the underlying information behavior of their investment decisions. In a final step we look at their tangible decision-making and financial skills. By doing so, we focus on typical problems and challenges facing private investors.
