Abstract

Albite twin width distributions in two andesines from the anorthosites of Sogndal, South Norway have been studied. Exponential twin width distributions are recognized, but deviations from this distribution are also found in these genetically complex crystals. ‘Black’ and ‘white’ lamellae systems show different distributions, and each system consists frequently of several, superimposed populations. Twin genesis is discussed.
