Abstract

A better user experience for broadband multimedia applications and a robust alwayson high-speed Internet connection drive operators to meet many challenges in terms of data capacity. As illustrated by Shannon?s theorem, the upper bound for the capacity of a data link in bits per second (b/s) is a function of the available bandwidth and the link's signal-to-noise ratio. Even before 5G mobile networks are deployed and wider bandwidth is available, the demand for mobile data consumption is not slowing down, and requirements for user equipment data throughput continue to increase.
