Abstract

We report on widely tunable laser emission obtained using a solution of coumarin 545 tetramethyl dye in ethanol. Interest in this dye derives from its use as an efficient emitter in electrically excited high-brightness organic light emitting diodes. The laser tuning range, at a concentration of 3 mM, was found by measurement to be in the 501–574 nm range, while exhibiting an intensity dynamic range of over four orders of magnitude.
