Abstract

This letter describes a wideband precoding design for multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems under per-antenna power constraints, wherein all subcarriers share one wideband precoder. With new insight into the objective function, we first reformulate the precoding designing as a stochastic optimization problem. Then, an algorithm based on the free probability theory is proposed to solve the stochastic optimization problem; consequently, a wideband precoder is obtained, with a computational complexity nearly equivalent to that required for a single narrowband precoder. The effectiveness of this wideband precoder is validated through simulations.
