Abstract

A wideband omnidirectional circularly polarized (CP) antenna using printed artificial anisotropic polarizer is presented for millimeter-wave applications. The spherical linearly polarized (LP) wavefront radiated from a bicone is regulated into cylindrical wavefront by a rounding hyperbolic lens before entering the conformal CP polarizer. The polarizer is made of 3D printed artificial anisotropic material with curved laminates being configured 45 degrees to the incident electric field. Measurement results show that the antenna has a wide operating bandwidth of 34.5% from 24 to 32 GHz, which completely convers potential 5G frequency bands at 28-GHz millimeter-wave range.
