Abstract

Analysis and design of a miniaturized wideband dual-polarized transverse electromagnetic (TEM) horn antenna is presented in this work. Miniaturization is achieved by combining the dual-polarized TEM horn with a collocated loop antenna routed behind the former. The TEM horn and loop geometries are engineered to excite their fundamental TM and TE spherical modes coherently and improve the performance at the low frequency end. Good impedance match and gain are demonstrated over greater than 3 octave bandwidth.
