Abstract

A compact in-phase power divider is introduced. The proposed power divider consists of three metallic layers and two dielectric layers. The electromagnetic energy is coupled from a rectangular-shaped patch placed on the top layer of the structure to two one-half rectangular-shaped patches placed on the bottom layer of the structure through a rectangular-shaped slot cut into the common ground plane. It is shown that the bandwidth of the power divider can be controlled by the coupling value between the patches. Designing a sample of the proposed power divider for covering frequency range of 1–3.5GHz is done. The simulation and measurement results of the designed power divider indicate the effectiveness of the proposed power divider.
