Abstract

This paper proposes a wideband reconfigurable unit based on PIN diode for reflectarrays of steering beams. the unit is composed of a circular patch and two PIN diodes to implement steerable reflectarrays. The on-off and off-on conditions of the two PIN diodes form two states. the architecture of the cell is presented and performance operating at 10 GHz is simulated by full wave method. Dual polarization operation over a 33% relative bandwidth, and a flat phase shift response of two states over the whole simulation frequency band are demonstrated. The structure has the advantages of simple structure, easy processing, small number of devices, wide frequency band of operation, low loss, etc., and has potential application value in dynamic regulation of electromagnetic waves.
