Abstract

A method for expanding the limits in measuring the power of optical radiation using attenuators is considered, along with methods for calibrating them. The method uses an additional attenuator with a high-power reference source. A photodetector with a dynamic measuring range of $10^5$105 is proposed, making it possible to calibrate power meters and radiation sources using a reference calorimeter or a self-calibrating photodiode. Comparative measurements were carried out using instruments of various types, and the measurement errors were estimated.
