Abstract

In recent years, a lot of progress has been made in retinal imaging. Owing to sophisticated imaging technologies, a great advancement has been taken for the demonstration, presentation, and sharing of patient pathologies. Wide-field fundus imaging offers new options in the evaluation of pediatric retinal cases. Particularly, there are difficulties in diagnosis and follow-up of ophthalmic diseases of babies and preschool children. Thanks to these devices, quality retinal pictures are obtained and can be sent to the remote centers. Wide-field digital imaging systems may be categorized into portable and office-based systems. The topic of this review is mainly about portable wide-field digital imaging systems used in the screening of retinopathy of prematurity.
