Abstract

The exponential rise in wireless data demand and usage is creating a significant burden on existing networks. Fortunately there is an alternative to switch the focus to sub-6 GHz spectrum to meet out the demand. This band is extremely effective at delivering fixed wireless services at long distances. They meet the needs of wide area coverage and data rates of up to a few Gbps. The spectrum around 3.5 GHz is attractive for 5G because it is available globally and offers a high amount of spectrum, potentially more bandwidth. The proposed work is to design, develop and characterize linear tapered slot antenna (LTSA) for effective sub mm-wave communication in the spectrum around 3.5 GHz. The performance characteristics of LTSAs include Wideband, medium gain and low side lobes. From CST simulation the peak gain achieved is 9.92 dBi and average VSWR value obtained is 1.22.
