Abstract

Are my students really that good? Are his? This was my reaction to the article by Mr. P. G. Chevreau on the Seminar method in Grade 13, in the last issue of the Canadian Modern Language Review. It was also my reaction after the last two months of last year, when my students taught all the French Authors classes and most of the grammar. The method used has much in common with the seminar method as described by Mr. Chevreau, the basic difference being that one student takes the place of the teacher, rather than a group of students. The beginning of the year, when we are looking for new ideas and approaches, is perhaps a good time to present this method, which has been successfully tried.
