Abstract
SUMMARY Ministering to Older Adults: The Building Blocks offers an approach to the systematic development of programs and services for the aged that focuses on spiritual not just psychosocial needs. This model has been proven to work in over forty congregations of various denominations in southern California. The questions surrounding the task of planning older adult ministries are explored without giving the answers, which must come from the reader. This chapter concludes with four reasons why a faith community should begin and/or enhance their older adult ministry in preparation for exploring the rest of the book.
