Abstract

Two weeks before the break-up for the summer holidays I was running a training course on the importance of developing listening skills in the classroom. Disappointingly only two NQTs enrolled. Granted, it was not the greatest time to be running a course, but even so it made me wonder about just how much we value the art of listening. And if we do not value something, how much time and consideration are we likely to give it? I still ran the course, but inside I was shouting from the rooftops: ‘Why is nobody listening?’
