Abstract

The Office for Civil Rights has long assisted institutions and the general public in understanding Section 504 compliance obligations by posting to its reading room selected determination letters and resolution agreements arising from Section 504 complaints and investigations, indexed and sorted by issues, parties, and dates for easy searching (https://bit.ly/3NP5zjI). Although determination letters also can be obtained in redacted form through a Freedom of Information Act Request, requesting an individual letter requires knowing its relevance and sufficient descriptive information to identify it, so in the absence of prior knowledge of a specific investigation, the reading room is the only publicly available resource from which one can readily to obtain determination letters.
