Abstract

Language differences may become powerful markers of social, cultural, and political dierence. Wherever there are language conflicts, there are struggles over territory, religion, political power, and other issues. However, language conflicts don’t always lead to violence, but they can create tensions that persist for years, affecting the lives of millions on a daily basis.
