Abstract
Less than a month after President Trump took the oath of office, sheriffs and police met with him in Washington to urge him to focus more on treatment and less on punishment in his approach to the opioid crisis (see ADAW, Feb. 20, 2017, https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.30857). Sheriff David Mahoney from Dane County, Wisconsin, asked by President Trump how much crime was caused by drugs, responded 80% — and added that alcohol is included in this figure.
