Why a large sigma term does not require a large strange quark content in the nucleon

Abstract

The authors show that the large nucleon sigma term of 60 MeV can be understood without any strange quark content in the nucleon when the non-linear almost parabolic dependence of the nucleon mass on the non-strange current-quark mass is taken into account.
