Abstract
Maria Tatar is the John L. Loeb Professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures and Chair of the Program in Folklore and Mythology at Harvard University, where she teaches courses in German Studies, Folklore and Children's Literature. Her books include The Annotated Brothers Grimm (W.W. Norton 2004), The Annotated Hans Christian Andersen (W.W. Norton 2007) and her latest, Enchanted Hunters: The Power of Stories in Childhood (W. W. Norton 2009). She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Tatar and I discussed by telephone her personal relationship with fairy tales, both as a woman and a scholar.
