Abstract
AbstractThe body of zebrafish can be divided into three parts: cephalosome, trunk and tail. The cephalosome of zebrafish contains mouth, eyes, nose, gills, brain and other organs. The fins and scales cover the outer surface of the trunk and tail. According to gross anatomy, the internal organs of zebrafish include liver, intestine, gallbladder, reproductive organs (testis and ovary), kidney, spleen, heart, swim bladder, etc. Applying 3D reconstruction via computer-aided technology, not only the three-dimensional anatomical morphology could be visualized, but also their position in the body and the anatomical relationship of each other would be clarified. Additionally, the morphology of various zebrafish organs is clearly observed through the longitudinal and transverse serial sections of the whole zebrafish following H&E staining. On this basis, the zebrafish organs are divided into digestive system (digestive tract and digestive gland), respiratory system, excretory system, reproductive system (male gonads and female gonads), immune system, endocrine system, circulatory system, epidermal system, nervous system, sensory organs, muscles, bones, etc. In the following chapters (Chaps. 2–15), the histology and cytology of various zebrafish organs of will be clarified in detail.
