This is where the paint is prepared—in this case, each shade is mixed precisely rather than being applied as sold—to a dry watercolor paper base. To facilitate a more natural color gradient, the area where the paint is being applied may be dampened beforehand, and >1 color preparation may be applied to enhance the depth of perspective. As most watercolors are transparent in nature, this process may be repeatedly applied to achieve the desired appearance.About the art: This piece was originally the second of 2 that were painted—the first being a similar subject in the same medium done several years before this painting. The art shown here was initially intended by the author to reflect her progress as an illustrator—a testament to the result of consistent practice and perseverance.Sources of FundingNone.DisclosuresThis is original artwork created by the author that has not been published—partially or entirely—elsewhere.
