Norman Golb, Norman Golb Norman Golb: , professor of Hebrew and Judaeo-Arabic studies at the University of Chicago, and a member of the Société de l'Histoire de France, has written widely on historical themes and is well known for his manuscript discoveries. A student of the Qumran scrolls for more than thirty years (his doctoral dissertation at Johns Hopkins dealt with the subject), he regularly leads graduate seminars on the texts at Chicago's Oriental Institute.
