Abstract
When teaching mathematics at the secondary level, it is ideal to find real-time data for students to collect and analyze. One activity that can utilize statistics, technology, and data analysis involves collecting presidential election poll data from across the country, analyzing their significance, and communicating predictions following the analysis. This article will illustrate how students used the Internet, linear regression, and Microsoft Excel to predict the 2004 presidential election. This article also discusses how the objective of predicting the election using linear regression can be implemented at various stages of achievement at the secondary level.
