Abstract
A note by the editors of Literary Review (Literaturnoe obozrenie): The contemporary world is undergoing rapid urbanization. Nowadays, most of us live in the city. The rhythm and structure of urban life is penetrating increasingly into the rural way of life as well. The city has begun to play a role in modern culture that it did not have in the past. It now has an extremely powerful effect on our being and consciousness.
