Abstract

The WHO Expanded Programme of Research, Development, and Research Training in Human Reproduction which began in January 1972, has as its objective the development of a variety of safe, effective and acceptable methods for the regulation of human fertility. WHO task forces for collaborative research represent one of the principal research mechanisms adopted by the Programme. The organization and operation of the task forces is described along with a status report outlining the major lines of research in which projects are being developed. Scientists whose research interests are consistent with the applied, goal-oriented and predominantly clinical character of the Programme and whose research falls directly within one or more of the task force research areas are invited to inform WHO of their interest.
