Abstract

The author of this book argues that clinicians must take on a greater management role in the reformed health service. He highlights the danger to the health service and patient care of consultants being sidelined, and suggests they are best placed to manage the NHS efficiently and cost-effectively. 'The book also considers management systems and their appropriateness to the NHS, and proposes models for change.
