Abstract

It sounds like a simple question… “Who's the boss?” If you are the CEO or president of your company, you may summarily answer, “Ha! I'm the boss.” If you are a front‐line manager, your answer may be more reserved… “I have a boss, but I am also in charge of the shift… so I guess I am a boss too.” In truth, there are many “bosses” in a company because a boss is someone (or something) with the authority to direct others' actions.
