Abstract

This paper presents a case study of an alcoholic couple. At the time they were referred for therapy, the male client was recently sober and the female was still actively drinking. The paper describes treatment from a feminist systems perspective. Gender bias and ongoing alcohol abuse are seen as the key variables in treatment. The paper illustrates the ways that certain clinical decisions were made and points to the need for a feminist-based therapy in dealing with similar cases.
