Abstract

As Bruce Fink indicates, Lacanian clinicians treat Lacan's theory of psychosis as central to his entire ceuvre, and work out whether an analysand is psychotic or not before proceeding with treatment.] We might expect Lacanian theorists to give similar priority to Lacan's theory of psychosis, and when arguing with the concepts of other theorists interested in madness, to compare it with those other theorists' concepts relating to insanity. It is notable, however, that the prominent theoretical Lacanian Slavoj Zizek barely mentions madness in his writings, even in his critique of Gilles Deleuze.
