Abstract
This article reports on a study of how the 1500 largest firms are coping with organization challenges arising from their increased size and complexity. Since key line executives frequently seek advice from organization specialists, the purpose, activities, and accomplishments of these specialist departments are explained. Furthermore, the characteristics of firms most likely to need organization advice are given.
