Abstract
Background The World Health Organization has supported a global network of Healthy Cities over 25 years. The WHO European Network consists of 99 municipalities committed to improving health and sustainable development via socioeconomic and environmental policies. Designated cities reflect enduring values of equity and cooperation, and focus on specific themes and goals for each five-year phase.
