Abstract
Gender and race are intertwined systems of inequality which shape the lives of everyone, including people who benefit from them. Over the past 25 years, research on whiteness and white supremacy that focuses on gender has grown, as has research on gender which takes into consideration whiteness. This work has developed in three strands of scholarship and critique: intersectional feminist theory; privilege studies; and whiteness studies. In addition, research on the white supremacist movement now focuses on the centrality of gender to the movement's race‐based practices and goals.
