Abstract The concept of a whist (or doubles tennis) tournament was introduced in Section 2.3. Recall that a Wh(4n) consists of 4n -1 rounds of n games; in each game two players play against two others, and altogether (i) each player plays in one game per round; (ii) each player partners every other player exactly once; (iii) each player opposes every other player exactly twice.
