Abstract

We show that phonon-induced dephasing of exciton states confined in a quantum dot may be interpreted in terms of which way information transferred from the carrier system to the lattice environment. Using distinguishability of quantum states as a measure for this information transfer we cast this interpretation in the form of a quantitative complementarity relation.
