Abstract

Do firms respond to different CSiR activities in the same manner? Are firms more responsive to certain types of CSiR activities than others? To answer these questions, we unpacked CSiR practices into five types based on their relatedness to different stakeholders, shareholder, customer, employee, supplier, and local community. Based on Fortune 500 firm’s CSiR practices from 1996 to 2005, we found that firms are most responsive to shareholder-, customer- related CSiR practices, and unlikely to respond to employee- and supplier- related CSiR practices.
