Abstract

What’s difficult about choosing a new Schmidt Cassegrain telescope? There are so many models, and the manufacturers’ ads in astronomy magazines and on the Web tend to confuse more than enlighten. Is a fork mount best? Or, is a German equatorial mount better? Is any Schmidt Cassegrain the “right” catadioptric telescope? Might a Maksutov Cassegrain be best? All those models and all those options are enough to confuse anybody.
