Abstract

This chapter briefly deals with the essay “Whereunto the Poet?”, composed to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of Rilke's death. The study of Rilke notes that he fell prey to Nietzsche's metaphysical nihilism but comprehended that it was to be overcome through the authentic use of language. Because Rilke somehow experienced Being and understood the sense of language, he was on the way towards the authentic use of language. This is why he was considered an ally in the overcoming of metaphysics.
