Abstract

No, the title of this editor's page does not refer to the Clinton budget sent to Capitol Hill last week. Indeed, there is plenty of beef in that budget—the kind chemists like to chew on. Overall, civilian RD health research at the National Institutes of Health would get an 8% increase to $14.8 billion; and the National Science Foundation is slated for a 10% raise to $3.8 billion (see page 5). More details on the Clinton budget will appear in C&EN's Feb. 16 issue.
