Abstract
Background: Improving efficiency is critical to the success of an endoscopy center, but implementing changes can be costly. Simulation modeling can create a virtual representation of endoscopy lab operations (processes, staff, equipment and patients) to identify problem areas (“bottlenecks”) and test “what if” scenarios before investing in a new technology or process. Purpose: To identify endoscopy lab bottlenecks, and evaluate the impact of hypothetical process improvements on efficiency outcomes using simulation modeling.
